Job Summary
Coordinate and implement educational lesson plans based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards using the assigned OCDEL-approved curriculum. Plan individual and group activities to actively engage children and encourage cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development while guiding Assistant Teacher(s) and classroom support staff. Monitor growth and development using age-appropriate assessment tools and make referrals in consultation with the Center Director for children needing additional services. Participate in IEP meetings, maintain student records, and establish positive relationships with parents through progress reports and conferences. Lead special events, foster community partnerships, and ensure compliance by submitting required documentation and staying current on Early Childhood Education best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field of study with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE
- Minimum of two years of documented experience working in a classroom setting with an early childhood population
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid Certification
- Full-time, 10-month position
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with Pre-K Counts/PHL Pre-K a plus
- Passion and skill for working with children
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children, colleagues, and families
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
- Solid organizational, leadership and problem solving skills
- A strong understanding of child development
- Familiarity with Keystone STARS standards, DHS regulations, and other government funding sources
