Job Summary
Create detailed design specifications for power system protection and control (P&C) algorithms and conduct proof of concept studies using PSCAD, RTDS, or MATLAB/Simulink. Drive root cause analysis for incidents related to protection algorithms and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues regarding algorithms, products, and customer cases. Author technical papers, present materials at trade shows, and deliver training courses while identifying patentable innovations for the Intellectual Property portfolio. Provide technical guidance to new engineers and analyze market trends to propose new developments in Digital Energy products.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent knowledge or experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in protection and control system design and studies
- Minimum of 3 years experience in developing detailed design specifications for P&C algorithms preferably within a relay manufacturing environment
- Extensive experience in power system protection, automation, and control product development
- Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design and power system simulation tools such as RTDS, PSCAD or ATP/EMTP
- Proven track record of publishing and presenting at industry forums and conferences
- Familiarity with industry standards and documentation procedures of electrical utilities
- Knowledge of modern protection and control and distribution automation developments and trends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comprehensive understanding of power systems and power system protection concepts and principles
- Methodical and structured approach to their work
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with product teams for implementation
Desired Qualifications
- Field experience
- Working knowledge of GEV protections, networking, and substation automation products
- Deep knowledge in power system protection
- Experience in developing power system protection and control applications in Real Time Controller market
- Familiarity of communication protocols applicable to P&C (such as IEC61850, Modbus, DNP3.0 and IEC60870-5-103)
