Job Summary
Lead power supply design engineer responsible for AC/DC and DC/DC converter design, power distribution architectures, EMI filtering, and analog/power circuit analysis. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams (digital, RF, mechanical, systems) to ensure designs meet power, thermal, emissions, and safety requirements; develops specifications and test approaches, selects components, creates schematics, participates in design reviews, and conducts laboratory testing to support development and production. Requires strong proficiency in power electronics design, simulations (SPICE/SIMPLIS), CAD tooling (Mentor Graphics), and experience with MIL-STD standards; willingness to work overtime/weekends and possibly obtain DoD security clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant (Power Supply, Electrical Engineering) experience
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 12 years of prior related experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with power conversion design, power analysis, analog circuit simulation, control loops and stabilization
- Knowledge of high frequency magnetics design, development, and manufacturing
- Demonstrated knowledge of AC/DC & DC/DC power converter design, build and test
- Understanding of power analysis with MathCad, Excel or similar tools
- Experience with electrical simulations using SIMPLIS and SPICE modeling tools
- Experience with CAD tools (preferably Mentor Graphics) for schematic entry and layout
- Great communications skills to coordinate efforts through all phases of the engineering and manufacturing process
- Willing to work overtime and weekends when required
- Experience with common lab equipment
- Preferably able to obtain a US DoD security clearance
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-1399, and MIL-STD-461 is a plus
- Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio software
- Design experience in military or other ruggedized industries
