Job Summary
Lead Power Electronics Engineer responsible for leading LV/MV power electronics and electrical design tasks on megawatt-scale Drive Systems for Marine, Energy, and Industry applications. Lead the design of power, control, and cooling solutions for power electronics converters to customer specifications; manage BOMs and change control; contribute to FMEAs and fault analysis; plan and conduct verification and validation testing (temperature heat runs, EMC, overload/abnormal condition assessments, performance optimization); ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and international standards; support tendering, testing and commissioning; liaise with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors. Preferred experience in control systems design and analysis, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, SPICE, CFD, EPLAN; ability to travel internationally; SC clearance eligibility; strong communication and leadership skills; SAP and Teamcenter familiarity. Required Qualifications
- Possession of, or capable of obtaining, SC-level security clearance
- Relevant academic degree or equivalent qualifications in power electronics or a related discipline
- Experience in power electronics converter design and understanding of electrical machines control methods
- Domain expertise in semiconductor devices (Diodes, Thyristors, IGBTs, GTOs, IGCT, MOSFETs, SiC, GaN) and related gating electronics, snubber circuits, and thermal design best practices
- Willingness to travel within UK and overseas for short-term working
