Job Summary
Lead Power Electronics Engineer responsible for leading and performing LV and MV power electronics and electrical design tasks on Drive Systems projects. Work within a multi-disciplinary team to specify, design, and support manufacturing & validation of megawatt-scale power electronics for Marine, Energy, and Industry applications. Lead design of power, control, and cooling solutions for power electronics converters to customer specifications; manage BOMs; contribute to FMEAs; plan and conduct verification and validation testing (temperature heat runs, EMC, overload assessments); ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and international standards; liaise with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors; provide technical assistance to tendering, test and commissioning teams; travel within UK and overseas as required.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of, or capable of obtaining, SC-level security clearance
- Relevant academic degree or equivalent qualifications in power electronics or a related discipline
- Experience in power electronics converter design and understanding of electrical machines control methods
- Domain expertise in semiconductor device (Diodes, Thyristors, IGBTs, GTOs, IGCT, MOSFETs, SiC, GaN, etc.) and related gating electronics, snubber circuits, and thermal design best practices
- Willingness to travel within UK and overseas for short-term working
