Job Summary
Lead surgical Physician Assistant duties include serving as a clinical leader and resource for PA staff across multiple specialties, providing mentorship, and assisting with staffing coordination and workflow optimization. Perform comprehensive pre-operative evaluations, order diagnostic studies, and educate patients on procedures. Act as first or second assistant in a wide range of surgical procedures, handling tasks such as suturing, retraction, and hemostasis. Manage post-surgical recovery, coordinate discharge planning, and collaborate with leadership to improve clinical protocols and quality initiatives. Ensure accurate EHR documentation and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Participate in on-call coverage as required to support team needs.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current New York State PA license
- NCCPA certification
- BLS and ACLS by AHA
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of surgical PA experience
- Prior leadership, supervisory, or precepting experience
- Demonstrated clinical excellence and strong decision-making skills
