Lead Physician Assistant (PA) - Urgent Care

Job Summary

Conduct health assessments, physical exams, and review medical histories to address patient needs while administering diagnostic tests and performing therapeutic procedures such as sutures and wound management. Interview patients, obtain medical histories, and educate them on therapeutic regimens and wellness. Prepare accurate medical records, electronically sign office notes, and maintain a safe environment adhering to infection-control and legal compliance standards. Collaborate proactively with clinic staff to treat patients and plan coordinated dispositions, acting as a clinical leader when the Practice Manager is unavailable. Mentor new-graduate providers and preceptor staff through educational workshops and experiential growth opportunities. Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • certification by Physician Assistant (PA) certifying body
  • DEA license with no restrictions
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
  • Must have and maintain a DEA license with no restrictions
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be available for weekend shifts

Desired Qualifications

  • Relevant experience: Clinical experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or ambulatory care setting is preferred
  • Strong leadership skills: Willing and able to mentor provider as well as non-provider clinic staff

  • Proactive and confident communicator (written and verbal): Foreshadows and elevates concerns as they arise, unafraid of professional directness both with colleagues and patients

  • Technically savvy: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software and clinical management systems (EMR)
  • Strong knowledge of: Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Strong knowledge of: Applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations including the requirements of the HIPAA and OSHA and applicable state rules and regulations pertinent to medical practices
  • Strong knowledge of: Relevant drugs and their chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo
  • Strong knowledge of: Non-pharmaceutical patient care aids, their applicable uses, and relevance to patient care
  • Strong knowledge of: Current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment
