Job Summary
The Patient Advocate Lead is integral to the Patient Advocacy Program, providing leadership and advocacy for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. Primary responsibilities include conducting educational training, investigating rights violations, and representing clients in hearings. The role requires experience in leadership, strong communication skills, and knowledge of patients' rights laws. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel throughout San Diego County. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, along with a strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle high-stress environments.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, insurance and be able to travel throughout the county
- BA/BS or equivalent experience
- One year of leadership experience
- Experience working with clients diagnosed with a serious mental health or substance use disorder
- Knowledge of patients’ rights law and/or willingness and ability to learn California State laws and San Diego County Policies and Procedures as they pertain to patients’ rights in treatment and residential facilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to pass a background check
