Job Summary
Lead Paramedic or Registered Nurse responsible for delivering advanced medical care in critical care transport. Serves as the primary EMS liaison on scene, directs EMS responders, and supports EMS operations including regulatory compliance, licensing, staffing, education, equipment maintenance, finances, and quality assurance. Acts as a formal resource for EMS staff, monitors productivity, and assists with patient care in receiving facilities. Requires maintaining national paramedic certification and/state licensure as applicable, BLS and advanced life support certifications, and a valid driver’s license. Role may involve variable hours including overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays; strong leadership, clinical supervision, and cross-disciplinary coordination are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Paramedic High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred
- A minimum of two years of experience as a paramedic in an Ambulance setting
- National registry status at a Paramedic level
- State license as required by location; Wisconsin Paramedic license required
- Paramedic-specific certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); PHTLS/ITLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP/other as mandated
- RN degree from accredited nursing program; RN license in current practice state; Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred
- RN license current and/or multistate licensure if in an NLC state
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred
- Maintains required department competencies and certifications
- Registered Nurse needs current nursing licensure; ability to provide advanced medical care
- Ability to lift/move patients; physically demanding tasks
