Job Summary
Lead Paper Process Engineer responsible for delivering process engineering deliverables on time and within budget, providing leadership and technical direction to a team of engineers on capital projects. Responsibilities include promoting safety in process design, planning and overseeing process engineering activities, managing scope changes, establishing design criteria, interfacing with clients to define scope and requirements, collaborating with the sales team on business opportunities and proposals, developing PFDs and P&IDs, performing heat and material balances and hydraulic calculations, preparing equipment specifications, reviewing vendor data, coordinating with design leads across disciplines, conducting inter-discipline design reviews, developing preliminary designs for cost estimates, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices. Travel as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Paper Science from an accredited university
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry – operations is a plus
- Extensive knowledge of paper machine equipment, processes, and operations
- Experience in PFD and P&ID development, heat and material balances, and equipment specifications
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Professional Engineering registration is a plus but not required
