Job Summary
Lead Operating Engineer responsible for the proper and efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the assigned facility. Manages preventive maintenance, may supervise maintenance staff, coordinates with outside contractors, and ensures adherence to codes, regulations, and safety practices. Performs and oversees routine maintenance tasks (e.g., changing filters, lubricating motors, replacing lamps/ballasts/fixtures, inspecting belts, bearings, and shafts), develops improvements to the preventive maintenance program, and compiles monthly operation reports. Must respond to emergencies and communicate effectively with the management team. The role may require on-site, extended or shift work and overtime as needed. Essential competencies include communication, organization, technical proficiency, decision making, and problem solving. The position requires High School Diploma or GED (apprentice/trade school preferred) and applicable trade licenses/certifications; EPA Section 608 universal refrigerant certification is required. The compensation range is $30.66 - $36.07 per hour, with field responsibilities at a client site in Irving, TX.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
- Graduate of apprentice program or trade school preferred
- Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required (e.g., Journeyman or Master Electrician License, City Licenses, Operators License, Steam Engineers License)
- Valid Universal certification for CFC and HFC refrigerants (EPA Section 608)
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Experience with operating HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems
- Knowledge of energy management systems and building systems operations
