Job Summary
Drive your personal vehicle to client facilities, primarily nursing homes, as directed by dispatch or supervisors to obtain blood samples from patients. Properly identify patients, label specimens with completed requisitions, and transport them while adhering to PHI policies. Plan draw schedules based on patient priorities, maintain accurate logs and time sheets, and ensure all equipment remains in good working order. Cooperate with dispatch, payroll, laboratory, and courier departments while responding promptly to company-issued mobile devices. Notify dispatch of availability for future assignments and perform other duties as assigned by the Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- current clinical Licensure, if required by State
- knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes
- Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, techniques, including venipuncture, tourniquet application/removal and decontamination of the puncture site
- Knowledge of required specimen preservation, adequate patient preparation and specimen procedures
- current and valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance
- access to a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements
- good driving record
- ability to work under minimal supervision and accurately maintain time sheet records
- understand and be knowledgeable of the resident rights, patient care and patient right to refuse
- Ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under a variety of patient conditions
- Proficient in written/verbal skills in the English Language
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, public and all staff members
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to take directions and conduct self in a professional manner
