Job Summary
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and advanced mechanical repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile environment. Diagnose malfunctions using test instruments and road test vehicles to ensure proper operation, while independently managing parts inventory and equipment on the service truck. Document all findings, parts used, and work performed on Repair Orders via the TRAIT application and accurately complete DOT forms. Lead on jobsites by mentoring junior technicians, performing quality control inspections, and making decisions related to technician performance in the absence of the manager. Obtain parts from approved vendors, communicate with the management team for estimate approvals, and maintain the service vehicle with daily pre- and post-trip inspections.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 7 years' experience in a related field
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI)
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification C1 (Service Consultant)
- 608/609 certification
- Successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening
- Pass a DOT physical
- Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration
- At least 21 years or older
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work
- Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring
- Ability to communicate information in a succinct and organized manner
- Ability to engage in effective two-way communication with individuals and groups
- Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed
- Ability to accurately judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
- 100% travel
- Day shift availability
Desired Qualifications
- Any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 5 years' experience
- 9 years' experience in a related field
- ASE T2 (Diesel Engines) certification
- ASE T3 (Drivetrain) certification
- ASE T4 (Brakes) certification
- ASE T5 (Suspension) certification
- ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification
- ASE T7 (HVAC) certification
- ASE A8 (Engine Performance) certification
- ASE L1 (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist) certification
- ASE L2 (Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist) certification
