Job Summary
Lead and supervise the maintenance team on swing shift, including time clock management, performance reviews, disciplinary action, and training. Perform various assigned tasks such as stick welding, electrical and hydraulic repairs, and heavy equipment machinery maintenance. Conduct mandatory visual inspections of equipment and facilities before use while promoting safety and enforcing lock-out tag-out procedures. Assist in training new employees, build communication bridges between departments for quality and production changes, and ensure tools and supplies are organized in their home locations. Maintain a clean work area, apply lean business practices, and fill out maintenance requests and idea cards as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environment
- Must have HS Diploma/GED
- Must be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely
- The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a time
- Applicants will be subject to a criminal background check
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and pre-employment physical exam
- This is a safety sensitive position for which impairment while working presents a substantial risk of death
- Demonstrate problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills
- Problem solving, technical troubleshooting, communication, planning, and organization skills
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge in Microsoft products
- Self-directed leader, safe leadership record, and can coach, teach, and train others
- Excellent in a team environment, with exceptional communication skills
- Knowledge of safety legislation, regulatory agencies, principles, and practices
- Ability to create quality and cost analysis
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Ensure safe work practices & follow safety procedures
- Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record
- Ability to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibility
