Job Summary
Lead Mental Health Technician provides patient-centered, collaborative care in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Responsibilities include assessing behavior, escorting and interacting with patients across shifts; conducting Handle with Care and BLS trainings; precepting and training new and existing MHTs; performing direct observation rounds and documenting patient behavior; modeling and teaching life skills; orienting patients to the unit and assisting with daily living skills; maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment; and providing physical restraint or intervention when appropriate (training provided). Preferred background in psychology, human services, nursing, or social work, with at least three years of psychiatric hospital experience. The role emphasizes leadership responsibilities within the team and ongoing clinical training to support high-quality patient care.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent
- three (3) years of related experience in a hospital setting with psychiatric experience required
- Successful completion of training in BLS and Handle with Care training within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures
