Job Summary
Lead Mental Health Counselor responsible for overseeing mental health services within York School District One. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving counselor documentation, determining medical necessity for therapeutic services, conducting supervision of counselors (monthly individual and group), delivering direct mental health services (diagnostic assessments, individual/family/group therapy, crisis intervention), creating treatment plans and progress summaries, supporting students in crisis with risk assessments and follow-up care, coordinating services and reentry after hospitalization or treatment, providing staff training, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with Medicaid RBHS standards, and contributing to policy and program improvements. Requires Master’s Degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field and licensure (LISW-CP, LPC, or LMFT). Preferred minimum of 5 years of counseling experience. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, knowledge of SC Medicaid RBHS standards, and ability to interpret professional materials and state guidelines. This exempt, full-time role involves office-based duties with local travel and potential overnight travel, and requires collaboration with interns and school staff to support student mental health needs.
