Lead Medical Technologist- Chemistry

Job Summary

Operate and maintain automated chemistry analyzers, performing routine and complex testing on patient specimens while ensuring specimen integrity and proper labeling. Load reagents, calibrate instruments, and execute quality control procedures with complete documentation to support uninterrupted laboratory operations. Monitor instrument performance, resolve technical issues, and review test results for accuracy before release into the Laboratory Information Management System. Assist with method validation, proficiency testing, and regulatory compliance reporting while identifying process improvements. Serve as a technical lead, mentoring staff and overseeing training progress within the chemistry department.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or a related field
  • MLS/MT or equivalent national certification
  • Florida Technologist License
  • 4+ years of clinical laboratory experience
  • significant experience in clinical chemistry
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in clinical chemistry and high-complexity laboratory operations
  • Strong understanding of quality control, quality assurance, calibration, verification, and laboratory regulatory standards
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and evaluate laboratory data for accuracy, validity, and clinical consistency
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to laboratory staff
  • Proficient with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and general computer systems
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with laboratory leadership and team members
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant, efficient, and high-quality laboratory environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with automated chemistry analyzers and related laboratory instrumentation
  • training may be provided on Access-specific instrumentation
  • Experience supporting method validation, instrument correlation, linearity, precision, accuracy, and QC evaluation
