Lead Mechanical Steampath Design Engineer (m/w/d)

Job Summary

Design and analyze steam turbine blades and mechanical steampath components using reaction and impulse blading technology for replacement-in-kind, service, and retrofit projects. Conduct record searches and data analysis to understand unit configurations and operating history, then perform complex checks on blade assembly and manufacturing processes. Adapt legacy designs to improve manufacturability, incorporate modern materials, and enhance reliability while developing and maintaining best working practices. Create technical documentation for manufacturing and support root cause analysis of component failures to implement corrective actions. Mentor early-career engineers and communicate with project management, sourcing, and suppliers to support business objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on steam turbine technology, or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant professional experience
  • Strong professional experience in steam turbine technology, with a focus on steam turbine blades, steampath components, and mechanical design
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in steam turbine blade design, manufacturing, analysis, and relevant industry standards

Desired Qualifications

  • Systematic and structured approach to work, with strong attention to detail, documentation quality, and configuration control
  • Proven experience creating and reviewing state-of-the-art manufacturing documentation (e.g., 3D models, drawings, specifications, and part list structures)
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools (Siemens NX and CATIA V5 preferred); familiarity with other engineering software is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to clearly present complex technical topics to diverse stakeholders
  • Collaborative and inclusive team player
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or work packages in parallel, prioritize effectively, and meet commitments in a dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal and technical leadership skills
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset, focused on delivering practical, robust engineering outcomes that meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions
