Job Summary
Lead Mechanical Engineer - Structures role focused on the structural design and analysis of renewable energy systems. Responsible for creating structural designs for stationary and moving structures, conducting FEA-based validation, producing manufacturing drawings and specs, collaborating with controls/electrical/thermal/software engineers, selecting materials based on strength and sustainability, ensuring manufacturability/assembly/serviceability, mentoring junior engineers, and interfacing with suppliers and engineering partners. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred), 7+ years of experience, proficiency with 3D CAD and FEA, GD&T ASME Y14.5, and experience with renewable energy systems; located in Austin, TX or Miami, FL with relocation support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years mechanical engineering experience
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
- Experience with FEA software (ANSYS, Nastran, or similar)
- Strong understanding of GD&T ASME Y14.5 and engineering drawing standards
- Experience designing for extreme environmental conditions (high winds, seismic events)
- Knowledge of relevant standards and codes (ASME, ISO, IEC)
- Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind, or energy storage) preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Relocation to Austin, TX or Miami, FL (relocation assistance provided)
