Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary
Perform design analysis and mechanical calculations while leading environmental and equipment qualification activities for critical infrastructure projects. Prepare engineering change packages and licensing evaluations, address regulatory concerns, and support design modification installations. Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. This leadership role requires 8-10 years of experience in the utility, power, or nuclear power industry.
Required Qualifications
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8-10 years of professional experience in the utility, power, or nuclear power industry
- Leadership experience managing technical teams and projects
- Knowledge of industrial plant components and systems
- Experience delivering design modification packages
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Reliable follow-through and ability to meet deadlines
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to work on-site 3 days per week or fully on-site as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (Illinois, Pennsylvania, or other states)
- Extensive commercial nuclear power experience
- Advanced technical coursework or certifications
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with regulatory agencies and licensing processes
- Experience with environmental qualification and equipment certification
- Background in power generation or utility systems
