Lead Mechanical Engineer - Gradient Coils

Job Summary
Conduct thermal and structural analysis of MRI gradient coils using advanced FEA, incorporating non-linear, modal, and fatigue analyses with temperature-dependent material properties. Lead design tradeoffs and execute verification strategies, including thermal-mechanical testing and instrumentation design using strain gages and DAQ systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the full product lifecycle from concept through manufacturing and field support to deliver high-performance, reliable coil solutions. Provide technical leadership for cost, quality, and reliability initiatives while resolving unstructured factory and field problems. This role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years of design experience and proficiency in ANSYS or similar tools. Onsite position at GE HealthCare; no visa sponsorship available.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of mechanical design and analysis experience
- Demonstrated experience in structural failure analysis and fatigue design
Desired Qualifications
- MS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- MRI gradient coil experience strongly preferred
- Solid modeling experience with CREO or equivalent
- Excellent communication, technical presentation, and influencing skills across organizational levels
- Proficiency in ANSYS (preferred) or similar tools (Abaqus, COMSOL)
