Job Summary
Lead mechanical engineering for gas-fired generation projects from feasibility through detailed design and commissioning. Establish design basis for turbines, heat-recovery steam generators, and balance-of-plant systems while directing piping diagrams, equipment arrangements, and specifications. Perform heat-and-mass balances, hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizing to validate system performance. Coordinate equipment interfaces, review vendor proposals, and facilitate design reviews and constructability assessments. Monitor deliverables against schedule and budget, providing technical support during fabrication, installation, and start-up. Respond to construction questions and lead troubleshooting for reliability improvements. Provide direction to mechanical engineers and designers to ensure design quality and risk mitigation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering experience supporting power-generation or comparable industrial facilities
- Substantial experience with combined-cycle or simple-cycle plant design
- Strong knowledge of turbines, HRSGs, piping systems, and mechanical balance-of-plant equipment
- Demonstrated understanding of thermodynamics, fluid flow, and heat-transfer principles
- Experience coordinating engineered equipment with overall plant design
- Familiarity with ASME, API, ANSI, and other relevant mechanical design requirements
- Ability to lead technical discussions and make timely engineering decisions
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license
- Experience working with major gas turbine, steam turbine, or HRSG manufacturers
- Background in EPC, engineer-procure-construct management, or design-build execution
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, SmartPlant, Aspen, MATLAB, or similar engineering applications
- Experience supporting operating plants, outages, commissioning, or performance testing
