Job Summary
Lead Mechanical Engineer responsible for maintenance engineering support to maximize plant equipment availability at the Toledo, OH HBI location; lead analysis of equipment health and strategies to extend time between overhauls; provide mechanical design and specifications for rotating equipment, piping, vessels, conveyors; lead reliability program activities; apply corrosion and metallurgy guidelines per codes from organizations such as NACE, API, ASME, and ANSI; flag and advise production on equipment reliability risks; establish best practices to improve profitability; evaluate systems for improvements via data analysis; perform root cause analyses and guide troubleshooting; coordinate with shift supervisors and craft personnel; prepare reports, capital expenditure documentation, and liaise with third-party service providers for oil, vibration, and thermography; ensure conformity to engineering design and specifications and manage cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years specialty focus in rotating equipment, turbo machinery, pumping systems, and hydrodynamic design.
- 3+ years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience with mechanical systems in the petrochemical, metals, or mineral processing industry.
- Knowledge of machinery design, statistics and project management.
- Experience in predictive technologies such as NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, and motor circuit analysis.
