Job Summary
Lead nuclear power plant systems design by preparing and reviewing modification packages, functional mechanical drawings, engineering analyses, technical specifications, and vendor bid evaluations. Conduct studies and options evaluations for operating plant systems while developing cost estimates for client-requested work scopes. Interface with clients at office or plant sites to present engineering task status and lead engineering project teams. Drive automation and process improvements by directing teams to use modern tools, AI, and scripting to reduce rework and deliver cost-effective designs. This hybrid role requires three days in-office and offers a relocation package for eligible candidates.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry
- Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants
- Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, and write)
- Must be available for three days a week in the office
- Must be willing or able to lead others who use modern tools
- Must be willing or able to lead engineering project teams
Desired Qualifications
- PE license
- Experience leading others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
- Experience directing automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked
- Experience overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
