Job Summary
Prepare or review modification packages, functional mechanical drawings, engineering analyses, technical specifications, and vendor bid evaluations for operating nuclear power plants. Conduct studies and options evaluations for plant modifications, develop engineering cost estimates for client-requested scopes, and visit client offices or plant sites to interface with stakeholders and present engineering status. Lead engineering project teams and direct automation and process-improvement work using modern tools like AI and scripting to reduce rework and deliver cost-effective designs. This role supports life extensions, digital modernization, and new-build projects within Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- academic coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfers
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the power industry
- Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants
- Three days a week in the office
- flexibility to work remotely for two days

- Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
