Job Summary
Lead Diesel Technician at First Student leading the preventive maintenance program for a First Student shop serving the Nampa School District. Responsibilities include overseeing complex vehicle diagnostics and repairs, supervising technicians, conducting daily huddles and training, managing inventory and budgets, ensuring compliance with federal/state standards, and participating in ASE certification programs. Qualifications include at least 5 years of diesel/auto maintenance experience (or technical school), prior lead/supervisor experience preferred, valid driver’s license with willingness to obtain CDL, strong computer skills, and ASE certifications preferred. Hourly rate is $38–$40, with potential bonus for ASE School Bus Series tests; full-time day shift Monday–Friday with benefits and career-advancement opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of diesel or automotive maintenance & repair experience or technical school education
- Previous lead technician/supervisor or management experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license; willingness to obtain CDL while employed – paid training
- Strong computer skills
- Possess a mechanic’s tool set
- ASE certifications preferred
- Note: DOT drug testing for safety-sensitive role
