Job Summary
Plan, supervise, and coordinate all vehicle maintenance operations for the Office of Pupil Transportation and Fleet Management, overseeing preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, repairs, parts inventory, and regulatory compliance. Supervise approximately seven to eight maintenance employees, including mechanics and the Parts & Supply Inventory Supervisor, while establishing daily work assignments and maintenance priorities. Develop and monitor comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs, review work orders, and manage vendor relationships and fleet lifecycle management. Respond to major vehicle breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing school buses and fleet vehicles.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to speak and understand English
- At least three (3) years of mechanical, transportation, fleet maintenance, supervisory experience, training, or related field
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with no air brake restriction
- Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements or willingness to obtain within one year, as required
- ASE certifications or willingness to obtain within one year, as required
- Virginia Department of Education clearance
