Job Summary
Lead cross-functional development of new metal additive manufactured products from concept through production launch, evaluating customer requirements and converting them into manufacturable designs. Develop end-to-end machining, heat treatment, finishing, and inspection processes while establishing documentation including work instructions and control plans. Create and optimize 3D CAD models applying Design for Additive Manufacturing principles, design fixtures and tooling, and perform engineering analyses for tolerance stack-ups and structural assessments. Collaborate with Quality Engineering to develop inspection strategies, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Mentor junior engineers and support qualification activities for aerospace, medical, and defense applications. Work hands-on to lead technical decisions and create reusable standards that improve launch speed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 7–10+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or product development.
- 3+ years of experience with metal additive manufacturing technologies.
- Strong understanding of DfAM principles.
- Experience with CNC machining, tooling and fixture design, heat treatment, finishing, and secondary manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Netfabb, nTop, and Magics or comparable tools
- Experience interpreting GD&T, engineering drawings and inspection results.
- Strong technical leadership, project planning, communication, and hands-on problem-solving skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or Materials Science.
- Knowledge of titanium, stainless steel, nickel superalloys, aluminum, cobalt chrome, or tool steels.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and topology optimization.
- Experience with CAM programming, five-axis machining, wire EDM, CMM, CT scanning, metallography, and surface metrology.
- Experience with FEA, topology optimization, thermal distortion prediction, or tolerance simulation.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAI/AS9102, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, and statistical qualification.
- Experience supporting capital-equipment selection and commissioning.
