Job Summary

Lead Manufacturing Engineer at Rocket Lab’s Sinclair Interplanetary site in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Responsible for leading the manufacturing team to improve efficiency and yield in the production of ADCS components for satellites; develop and document manufacturing procedures, create and maintain BOMs and work instructions for mechanical and electrical technicians; drive continuous improvement of manufacturing volume and efficiency; source equipment/workstations/methods proposals; provide DFM input to new product designs; analyze and resolve manufacturing discrepancies and drive root-cause analyses and corrective actions; conduct cost/schedule studies for production efforts; train production personnel on processes and equipment; align local business processes with global ones; requires in-person presence five days a week and flexibility to support program needs. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in engineering, 5+ years in manufacturing, leadership experience, proficiency with Lean/Six Sigma and quality tools (PFMEA, SPC), knowledge of mechanical/electronics manufacturing, and environmental testing; nice-to-have: Master’s degree, space-hardware experience, data tools (Infor LN, PowerBI, SQL), Python/SQL, layout improvements, cleanroom/ESD familiarity, strong communication and collaboration skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace or any relevant engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing a team and mentoring junior team members
  • Direct experience with Lean principles, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action, Metrology, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC
  • Knowledge of mechanical processing and assembly (machining, 3D printing, coating)
  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing (soldering, dipping, inspection, rework)
  • Familiarity with environmental testing (electromagnetic, thermal, vibration, vacuum, shock)
  • Availability outside of normal business hours and/or weekends as dictated by programs and customers’ location/time zone.
  • This is a fully in-person position requiring presence in the office 5 days a week.
