Job Summary

Operate imaging equipment to produce radiographs of designated body areas, selecting proper technical factors for each patient. Evaluate image quality, demonstrate difficult techniques to staff, and maintain quality control and regulatory compliance for the mammography department. Coordinate area purchasing, staffing, and patient flow while assisting the Radiologist with imaging procedures. Transport and position patients, maintain mammography services in accordance with state and federal standards, and participate in on-call assignments and schedule changes as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • BLS Certification following American Heart Association guidelines
  • CRT certification
  • AART certification
  • Mammography Certification
  • Registration with the State of California
  • State of California Fluoroscopy Permit
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to organize and maintain good follow-up
  • Good communication skills
  • All required vaccinations
  • Medical and religious exemptions (where applicable)
  • E-Verify participation acknowledgment
  • Adherence to Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
  • Ability to assess data reflective of patients' status and interpret relative to age-specific needs
  • Technical competence to perform all department functions
  • Technical competence to perform in a multi-modality department
  • Working knowledge of patient orders, status changes, patient charges, profiles, and ability to transmit electronic medical record
  • Knowledge of PACS and mammography reporting system
  • Ability to maintain mammography services in accordance with standards established by the hospital and with state, local and federal standards
  • Ability to maintain quality control for designated area
  • Ability to participate in On-Call assignments and work schedule changes
  • Ability to practice sterile technique and use universal precautions
  • Ability to provide radiation protection for self and patient
  • Ability to recommend equipment modifications, new equipment and essential construction within the area
  • Ability to plan and evaluate staffing for the area
  • Ability to maintain adequate records
  • Ability to maintain and meet expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements
  • Ability to assist Radiologist with imaging procedures
  • Ability to coordinate area purchasing activities and stock levels
  • Ability to coordinate Breast Cancer month activities
  • Ability to coordinate preparation for regulatory compliance activities in the mammography department
  • Ability to evaluate accuracy and technical quality of images procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate and explain difficult or new techniques and procedures to the technical staff
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities to designated staff members
  • Ability to help coordinate work assignments and coordinate requests for imaging services and hospital routine
  • Ability to maintain patient flow and coordination of other imaging procedures
  • Ability to participate in hospital-wide quality assurance program
  • Ability to transport and position patients
  • Ability to perform proper computer skills
  • Ability to produce images under difficult or special conditions
  • Ability to select proper technical factors on an individual basis
  • Ability to operate imaging equipment to produce radiographs of designated areas of the body
