Job Summary
Lead Maintenance Worker – Pipeline supervises a 3-4 person crew responsible for maintenance and repair of water and wastewater pipelines, performs general grounds and facilities maintenance, repairs/repipes lines, assists multiple NTMWD systems, and ensures safety practices including permit-required confined space entry and lockout/tagout. Responsibilities include evaluating quality of subordinate work, coordinating with other departments, responding to emergencies in NTMWD systems, performing annual cleaning of basins and flumes, and being on-call rotating shifts with potential overtime. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, three years of maintenance experience, a Texas Class C Distribution and/or Type II Collections license (preferred), and obtaining a Texas CDL Class A with tanker endorsement within 12 months; must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and effective communication and supervisory capabilities, plus basic mechanical skills and proficiency with CMMS. The role involves significant physical exertion and driving a District vehicle, with lifting up to 50 pounds daily and up to 75 pounds weekly, exposure to weather and hazards, and use of safety equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of experience in maintenance operations
- Prefers Class C Distribution and/or Type II Collections license issued by TCEQ
- Must obtain Texas Commercial Driver’s License Class A with tanker endorsement within 12 months
- Must have valid Texas Driver’s License
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Some supervisory capabilities
- Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of small hand tools
- Must be able to operate tractor with attached mowing equipment
- Proficiency in District Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
