Job Summary
Lead Machinist on night shift responsible for assisting the machine shop manager and supporting shop personnel to consistently meet quality and on-time delivery. Night shift runs 4-10 hour days, Monday-Thursday. Must have thorough knowledge of machining, diagnose problems on tooling and machining, interpret blueprints with GD&T, and possess strong tooling knowledge. Role requires collaboration with the supervisor to schedule workload, effective communication with both technical and non-technical personnel, and leadership on the shop floor when the supervisor is absent. Familiarity with CNC code, Mastercam, SolidWorks, Haas, Toshiba, and Fanuc controls, 5S, tool-room management, and vendor coordination for tooling. Ability to read micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment; maintain stock of standard tooling; and adapt to new technologies. Candidate should demonstrate strong math skills, reading blueprints, and the ability to contribute to quality and process improvements, with 4-10 hour night shifts and potential for shift differential.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent including additional technical training in an approved machinist program.
- A minimum of 5 years of machining experience.
- Demonstrated shop math skills, knows feeds and speeds, and can develop or improvise tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
