Job Summary
Lead Loads and Dynamics Engineer responsible for developing mechanical loads, environments (static, vibration, shock, acoustic), and test strategy. Define loads methodology, build loads and design infrastructure, and lead a team across program phases. Responsibilities include developing dynamics methodology, producing outputs for critical engineering decisions, defining dynamic testing strategy from lowest to highest level, collaborating with design and operations teams to influence hardware design and test plans, building tools/infrastructure to improve efficiency, managing team progress, and developing dynamics engineers. Requires 5+ years in spacecraft dynamics, a Master’s degree in engineering, and proven leadership in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Femap, NASTRAN, and MATLAB is expected, along with mentoring capabilities and experience in tool development and dynamic testing of large space vehicles.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent additional years of experience
- 5+ years of experience in spacecraft dynamics modeling and testing
- Proficiency with Femap and NASTRAN software for dynamics simulation
- Proficiency with MATLAB for data analysis
- Ability to mentor and develop more junior engineers, contractors, and interns to build an effective design team
