Job Summary
The Lead Lighting Artist will shape and deliver world-class real-time lighting across gameplay, cinematics, and marketing assets using Unreal Engine 5. Responsibilities include defining and executing the lighting vision, setting and maintaining lighting standards, creating impactful lighting, and collaborating with various teams. Candidates should possess a strong portfolio in Unreal Engine, experience in a lead role on shipped titles, excellent knowledge of lighting fundamentals, and technical expertise in UE5. The role involves mentoring other artists and ensuring lighting quality throughout development.
Required Qualifications
- Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality real-time lighting in Unreal Engine
- Experience in a Lead Lighting Artist role on shipped titles
- Deep hands-on experience lighting complex scenes using UE5
- Excellent understanding of lighting fundamentals such as color, contrast, exposure
- Strong technical awareness of real-time rendering constraints, profiling, and optimization
- Strong understanding of grading and colour pipelines
- Deep, practical knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 lighting systems
- Previous experience capturing, processing, and implementing HDR skies
- Clear communicator who can explain lighting intent to both artistic and technical audiences
Desired Qualifications
- Experience contributing to high-quality in-engine marketing or promotional assets
- Familiarity with custom or advanced rendering pipelines in Unreal Engine
- Photography and studio lighting skills
