Job Summary

Lead surgical workflow, manage anesthesia induction and monitoring, and oversee sterile turnover while acting as the OR "quarterback" directing traffic and troubleshooting. Perform advanced diagnostics including in-house iSTAT testing, radiograph positioning, and dental procedures alongside clinical tasks like blood draws, IV catheter placement, and medication administration. Serve as a floater to redistribute workload, mentor technicians, and catch errors before they occur. Field client complaints, triage appointments, and manage invoicing while maintaining clean treatment areas and supporting front desk operations.

Required Qualifications

  • 10-hour shift availability (7:30a-5:30p or 10a-8:30p)
  • Only one Saturday per month availability
  • 2-3 days per week in Surgery availability (7:30a shift)

  • Acting as surgery 'quarterback' directing traffic and troubleshooting
  • Performing and verifying drug calculations and anesthetic doses
  • Double-checking calculations made by other team members
  • Troubleshooting issues with tech equipment, in-house lab machines, anesthesia machines, and autoclave
  • Being the first line of defense for technical glitches and workflow interruptions
  • Fielding client complaints and resolving issues with professionalism
  • Serving as a point of contact between doctors, staff, and clients
  • Anesthetic monitoring (EKG, SpO2, EtCO2, BP, Temp)
  • Induction, prep, recovery, and post-op monitoring
  • Sterilization of equipment and surgical suite flow
  • Ultrasonic scaling, polishing, dental radiographs, and charting
  • Patient positioning for thoracic, abdominal, orthopedic radiographs
  • Submitting radiographs to specialists
  • Collecting, processing, and submitting lab samples
  • Running in-house diagnostics (iSTAT)
  • Triage, history, treatments, client education, and medication instructions
  • Handling technician appointments, treatments, invoicing, and check-out
  • Nail trims, ear cleanings, anal glands, blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, jugular)
  • Cystocentesis, BP monitoring, bandaging, suture removal
  • Maintaining clean, safe treatment areas
  • Stocking rooms and preparing prescriptions
  • Supporting front desk as needed (phones, check-ins/check-outs)
  • Administering medications
  • Assisting or performing treatments
  • Diagnostics & monitoring

  • Drawing blood

  • Cleaning, feeding, and walking patients as needed
  • Prepping, induction, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery of patients
  • Cleansing/maintaining/sterilizing anesthesia equipment and surgical instruments
  • Providing patient dental care, ultrasonic cleaning and polishing
  • Assisting doctor with dental surgery
  • Positioning patients and assisting with radiographs
  • Sending radiographs via email
  • Collecting, preparing, and running or submitting samples for requested tests
  • Reading and recording results when indicated (fecals, Urines, Ear cytology etc)
  • Preparing invoices, discharge instructions, and client informational tools
  • Giving patient updates, discharge instructions, and providing follow up for certain hospital patients
  • Teaching/educating clients on at home care procedures
  • Conducting veterinary technician appointments (blood draws for therapeutic monitoring / screening tests, bandage changes, post-op checks, suture removals, AG, TNT)
  • Assisting doctor with outpatient appointments
  • Preparing, restocking, cleaning exam room
  • Checking patients in and out
  • Taking history and vitals
  • Inputting data into patient medical record
  • Ensuring a smooth and timely flow of outpatient appointments from check-in to discharge
  • Answering phones, booking appointments, admitting/discharging patients
  • Training and mentoring new team members
  • Assisting with inventory control (informing inventory manager when products are getting low/out, unpacking, restocking drug & medical supplies)
  • Preparing prescriptions (dispensed medications & medication refills)
