Job Summary
Collaborate with lactation professionals to provide direct patient care, assessment, and education to mothers and newborns while developing and evaluating orientation programs for clinical staff. Oversee the Human Donor Milk program and maintain Baby-Friendly designation by coordinating with physicians, administrators, and interdisciplinary teams on standards and initiatives. Collect and analyze infant-feeding data to identify trends for quality improvement, serving as a clinical resource for hospital staff and families. Participate in performance-improvement efforts, ensure compliance with regulatory policies, and maintain required certifications including IBCLC and AHA BLS. Full-time day shift in White Plains, NY, with 77.5 hours per pay period at $58.40–$75.80 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing
- Current New York State Registered Nurse license
- Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification through IBLCE
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification upon hire
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification within 180 days of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within 180 days of hire
- One to three years of relevant nursing and/or lactation experience
- Strong knowledge of current nursing, lactation, maternal-newborn, and patient-care practices
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to educate and support patients, families, and clinical staff
- Strong organizational and program-coordination skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with nursing leadership, physicians, administrators, and interdisciplinary teams
Desired Qualifications
- Previous lead, coordinator, or program-management experience in lactation services
- Previous Mother-Baby, postpartum, Labor and Delivery, NICU, or women's health nursing experience
- Hospital-based lactation consulting experience
- Experience managing or supporting a Human Donor Milk program
- Experience with Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative requirements and designation processes
- Experience developing staff education and competency programs
- Experience collecting and analyzing breastfeeding or infant-feeding quality data
