Job Summary
Design new power plants and modify existing facilities by preparing specifications for instrumentation and controls equipment, coordinating multi-discipline project teams, and developing electrical control circuit designs. Lead engineering calculations and logic diagram creation while overseeing automation and AI workflows to reduce rework and improve design efficiency. Perform field verification at client and vendor sites for construction coordination, managing control system upgrades and commissioning activities. This role requires a hybrid schedule with three days in the Clayton, Missouri office and occasional travel. Candidates must lead peers in modernizing engineering processes using data-driven tools and scripting.
Required Qualifications
- A BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (from an ABET accredited program) with a strong academic background and coursework in analog and digital control systems
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training
- 12+ years of relevant power plant and heavy industrial control systems experience
- Power or industrial controls experience
- An understanding of the practical application of instrumentation and controls engineering and technology including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
- Experience reading and creating logic diagrams and control narratives
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models
- Proficiency with MS Office applications, with emphasis on MS Excel and Access
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- This position is based on a hybrid work schedule based in our Clayton, Missouri office, located within the St. Louis metropolitan area and will require in-office work 3 days per week
- This position may require occasional travel
Desired Qualifications
- PE License, preferred
- Experience with DCS, TCS, and/or PLCs programming
- Experience performing field work (i.e. control system upgrades, commission, start-up)
- Engineering consulting experience and strong client relationships with Florida clients
- Leaders in these roles often direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked
- Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
- We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
