Job Summary
Lead the design and act as the senior technical subject matter expert on the delivery of instrumentation and control systems for mining and heavy industrial facilities. Oversee control philosophy, system architecture, and functional specifications for complex process systems while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to ensure fully integrated project solutions. Drive innovation by applying advanced automation, digitalization, and control technologies, and provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality reviews for project teams. Support project execution through all phases—from concept to commissioning and operational optimization—and engage with clients to understand operational needs and deliver tailored, high-value engineering solutions. Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards across all deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial facilities
- Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in Canada
- Extensive experience leading and delivering instrumentation and controls engineering within mining or heavy industrial sectors
- Strong expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA systems, and process automation platforms
- Proven ability to develop control narratives, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists
- Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support in industrial environments
- Strong understanding of safety systems, hazardous area classification, and applicable codes and standards
- Ability to lead complex projects and mentor junior staff while maintaining high technical excellence
