Job Summary
Install and assemble office furniture systems, case goods, and wall mountings while maintaining professional customer interactions. Supervise a crew of installers, ensuring rest breaks and meal periods are taken, and train new hires on installation processes and tool maintenance. Operate work tools including skill saws, routers, and sanders to execute floor plans, unload trucks, and verify electrical and lock components before walkthroughs. Manage paperwork via tablet and communicate effectively with clients and manufacturers. Work irregular hours and extended shifts as needed, lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering furniture on inclines or stairs.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a strong fundamental understanding of basic furniture installation processes
- Must understand how to properly fine tune and detail panels, install hard wall offices, case goods, conference tables, and other office furniture
- Must be familiar with and knowledgeable about how to properly and efficiently install products from various furniture manufacturers, including Haworth, Herman Miller, and Steelcase
- Must be able to capably assist installers by installing furniture as directed
- Must demonstrate leadership ability to effectively supervise a crew of installers
- Must be able to train and mentor installers
- Must be able to communicate effectively with customers
- Must be computer literate to process paperwork on tablet and respond to emails
- Must be able to understand blueprints
- Must be adept in the use and maintenance of various work tools including skill saws, jig saws, routers, sanders, and hammer drills
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Must be passionate about hands-on learning
- Must be able to unload tractor trailers and bobtail trucks
- Must be willing to work irregular hours and extended shifts as needed
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to perform other physical tasks for duration of shifts, including standing for an extended period, stooping, bending, and twisting
- Must be able to maneuver furniture up an incline or stairs as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to drive Class C bobtail trucks is a plus
- At least two (2) years of commercial furniture installation experience preferred
