Lead Infrastructure Engineer (Lead DBA)

Job Summary
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex database systems across cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), ensuring performance, availability, and security. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to cross-functional teams, oversee upgrades/migrations, and drive scalable, cost-effective database architectures. Collaborate with DevOps to integrate infrastructure-as-code practices (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet) and optimize deployment, monitoring, and automation. Emphasize capacity planning, performance analysis, and security measures, while guiding junior engineers and aligning solutions with business goals. Additional duties include leading sessions with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into infrastructure designs and ensuring high availability and reliability of database platforms. Includes working with Oracle, DB2, Progress, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL technologies, plus scripting in Python/PowerShell and Unix/Linux environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience
- 5+ years of relevant and practical experience in database administration
- Extensive experience with Oracle, DB2, Progress, PostgreSQL
- Cloud-based databases and services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Unix/Linux proficiency
- Scripting/automation (Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Unix-based vi)
- Big data technologies and NoSQL databases
- Mentoring and leadership experience
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving for database planning
- Cross-functional collaboration and effective communication
- Experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet)
