Job Summary
Lead I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) Software Test Tools Engineer responsible for designing and executing engineering support tools and UI applications to assist embedded software testing and simulations. Works under a Technical Leader to define project work, creates product communications simulators, develops automated testing applications with appropriate hardware, and leverages Python tooling and Tkinter GUI development. Interfaces with hardware/HIL environments, applies engineering fundamentals, produces clear analysis documentation, and collaborates across cross-functional teams within GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy to ensure timely, quality deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- 5+ years experience in software development and/or test engineering for embedded systems
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Python for tooling, scripting, and test automation
- 2+ years of experience developing GUI applications using Tkinter (or strong GUI experience with commitment to focus on Tkinter)
- 2+ years of experience working with embedded C code, including building, testing, and debugging
- 3 years of experience designing and executing unit, integration, system, and HIL tests
- Experience interfacing with hardware/HIL environments (communication protocols, I/O, simulators, test benches)
- Proven ability to architect and implement robust, maintainable test tools and frameworks
- Experience working in a structured development environment (requirements, design reviews, traceability, configuration management)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
