Job Summary
Lead Highway Engineer within the WSP Pittsburgh office providing highway task leadership and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal design standards. Manage design and construction aspects across multiple projects, supervise junior staff, develop highway construction plans and cost estimates, prepare technical reports and presentations, coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients, and stay current with highway engineering techniques. This is a hybrid role with a minimum in-office attendance of 3 days per week.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- 7+ years of relevant post-education experience in transportation and highway design
- Pennsylvania Professional Engineer’s license required
- Proficient with highway engineering principles, practices, process, and permitting
- Experience with transportation planning, highway design, and construction consultation
- Knowledge of client-specific highway engineering guidance and best practices
- Ability to make design decisions involving plans, specifications, and cost estimating
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences
- Self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking in dynamic environments
- Ability to work with minimal oversight and lead junior team members
- Proficiency with ORD, InRoads, MicroStation
- Ability to coordinate and direct subconsultants safely and efficiently
- Demonstrated safety-consciousness and adherence to policies
- Willingness to travel as required
- Occasional travel may be required
