Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary
Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service heavy equipment as assigned by the supervisor while maintaining clean work areas and caring for all shop tools. Troubleshoot equipment issues, resolve mechanical problems, and ensure quality, compliance, and safety of company assets and personnel. Oversee documentation of machine information, repairs, parts, and fluids, and maintain consistent workflow flow in a timely manner. Act as a team leader to communicate with management, drivers, and other plant employees, promoting safety awareness and continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned, including working in varied outdoor environments and adhering to all MSHA safety regulations and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience working on heavy mobile equipment in a mining environment
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of heavy equipment and repair
- Ability to read service/repair manuals, and work orders
- Computer skills
- Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
- Positive, Team-based attitude
- The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required
- The ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
- Must be able to meet all MSHA safety requirements and adhere to company safety policies
- Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as bend and lift-up to 80 pounds
