Job Summary
Lead Head Start Teacher leads the classroom teaching team for children aged three to five, ensuring services align with Head Start Program Performance Standards and ISBE requirements, implements developmentally appropriate practices using Creative Curriculum, observes and documents child progress, coaches and supervises teacher assistants, facilitates parent conferences and home visits, supports family engagement, and collaborates with consultants to promote School Readiness goals; travel to Easterseals and partner sites is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or in another field with at least 30 semester credit hours in ECE
- Gateways ECE Level 5
- PEL credential required
- 2-3 years of early childhood classroom experience
- 1-2 years of Head Start preferred
- 1 year of experience serving culturally and linguistically diverse children in early childhood settings
- Valid driver’s license (if travel is required)
- Completion of a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education per year
- Willing to work flexible hours to accommodate families’ needs
