Job Summary
Join WSP as a Lead Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to provide engineering guidance and leadership on infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include executing concurrent geotechnical engineering projects, providing training to junior engineers, analyzing field data, developing construction plans, preparing technical reports, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Applicants should possess a BS in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis, a PE license, over 10 years of professional experience, project management skills, and knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles. The role requires effective communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a strong commitment to safety.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical emphasis and MS degree a plus)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 10 years + professional experience
- Project management experience including scoping, and tracking hours and expenses for project work.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships as well as experience in proposal preparation
- Proficient demonstrated knowledge of geotechnical engineering including design and analysis of foundations, slope stability, seismic engineering, retaining walls, and earth retention systems
- Proficient understanding of rock and soil mechanics
- Ability to make technical computations and calculations
- Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on construction and design
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team members
- Proficiency with technical writing and design software
- Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to assertively direct others in the field
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety
Desired Qualifications
- CMT or CQA field experience
- Local presence and contacts in the Charlotte construction market
Additional Requirements
- Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
- Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
- Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
