Job Summary
Lead generation electrical engineering role supporting large-scale power generation and non-generation power distribution projects for DoD facilities. Responsibilities include research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of power generation, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, protection and control systems; scoping, budgeting, and proposals; development of generation electrical drawings and equipment specifications; engineering reviews, permit assistance, and site inspections; development of P&IDs and extensive electrical calculations (load, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, voltage drop, motor starting, etc.); preparing construction documents and coordinating with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients; mentoring entry- and mid-level engineers; preparing technical reports and presentations; ensuring compliance with UFC/UFGS/NEC/IEEE/NFPA/ICC standards; and contributing to a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of electrical engineering design experience with a focus on Power Generation projects
- Experience leading designs with single and parallel generation setups, MV and LV switchgear, transformers and system protection
- Currently licensed professional engineer (PE)
- US citizenship
- Knowledge of UFCs, UFGSs, FCs, NEC, ANSI/IEEE standards, NFPA standards, ICC standards
- Consulting environment experience
- Ability to mentor junior staff
- Proficiency in electrical engineering calculations and design practices
- Experience preparing complex technical deliverables
- Experience with client interaction as a senior SME
- Power distribution modeling software (e.g., SKM PTW, ETAP)
- CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, REVIT)
- SpecsIntact specification authoring/editing
- NAVFAC and USACE design standards
- Designing for Combined Cycle and Simple Cycle Gas Turbines or Heat Recovery Steam Generators
