Job Summary
Lead Financial Advisor role at Auckland Council focusing on delivering clear financial insights and advice to local boards, enabling informed decision-making across multiple boards and cross-council projects. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality financial guidance to non-finance audiences, identifying savings and revenue opportunities, presenting financial implications to elected members and senior stakeholders, reviewing reports with financial implications, and building trusted relationships across finance, local boards, and the wider council. Requires depth in finance, commercial judgement, ability to translate complex information for non-financial audiences, and confidence presenting to elected members and senior stakeholders. Senior-level finance expertise, CAANZ registration, and experience in large, complex organisations are emphasized; a tertiary finance/commercial/business degree is expected. Required Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in finance, commerce or business management
- Professional registration with CAANZ or a similar body
- Senior commercial accounting or business advisory experience
- Strong planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting skills
- Experience presenting complex advice to senior and political audiences
- Experience working in large, complex and fast-moving organisations
