Job Summary
Conduct diesel equipment inspections, perform preventive maintenance, and execute repairs on head rack and trailer assemblies. Fabricate and weld structural components addressing wear, accidents, and rust damage while assessing supplier work quality. Maintain clear communication with the Lead Mechanic, troubleshoot shop equipment breakdowns, and ensure all operations comply with OSHA standards and DOT regulations. Perform occasional emergency service calls and update technical knowledge through educational resources. Work the second shift Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience in class 8 tractor truck maintenance and/or equivalent schooling
- background of hydraulics
- Experience with electronic diagnostics
- Attention to detail and possess a high level of accuracy
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ability to stay calm under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with dispatch team and auto haulers
- Excellent communication skills both internally and with customers
- Work may require more than 40 hours per week
- This is a second shift position
- schedule is expected to be Monday through Friday
- working hours from either 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
Desired Qualifications
- Class A CDL license is preferred but not required
- Certified welder is preferred but not required
- Experience with Peterbilt chassis a plus
- Knowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules, regulations and safety is helpful
- Knowledge of transportation management system, a plus
- Computer literate
- Microsoft, Outlook and Excel a plus
