Lead Estimator

Job Summary
Lead Estimator role combining hands-on estimating responsibilities with leadership of the estimating function. Develop accurate and competitive project estimates, manage estimating resources, establish estimating standards and processes, and support strategic project selection decisions. Collaborate with executive leadership, engineering, operations, project management, vendors, customers, and the commercial team to convert opportunities into successful projects while identifying and managing risk. Lead and mentor the estimating team, develop bid strategies, review drawings and specifications, prepare scopes of work and proposal documents, evaluate vendor/subcontractor pricing, and drive process improvements for profitability and operational excellence. Strong technical estimating capabilities, team leadership, and collaboration across functions are essential; proficiency in Excel and estimating software, with experience in conceptual budgets, budgetary and detailed estimates, and value engineering.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of estimating experience in construction or related field
- experience leading estimating teams
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or related field (preferred)
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar asset (preferred)
- strong leadership and communication skills
- proficient in Excel and estimating software
- ability to develop conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates
- experience in budgeting, pricing, and bid strategies
- ability to identify risks and perform value engineering
- experience with vendor and subcontractor negotiations
- travel willingness for local/national sites (occasional)
