Job Summary
Lead Estimator for Mechanical/HVAC Construction responsible for guiding the estimating department, ensuring accurate and timely cost estimates for mechanical projects, mentoring and developing the team, and contributing to client interactions and reviews. The role requires applying advanced estimating techniques, supporting estimating tools and processes, and leveraging experience across design/build and plan/spec delivery in diverse commercial sectors. Compensation includes $110K–$140K annually plus bonus and/or relocation package. The position is based in Seattle, WA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related equivalent field experience
- At least 7 years of mechanical project estimating or preconstruction experience within the commercial construction industry
- Proven ability in critical thinking and problem-solving, exercising sound judgment in decision-making
- Experience in design/build and plan/spec delivery methods across diverse market sectors
- Proficient in advanced estimating strategies and techniques
- Skill in managing, training, and developing employees efficiently
- Experience in participating in project interviews, presentations, and detailed estimate reviews with clients as needed
Desired Qualifications
- 7+ years of mechanical project estimating or preconstruction experience in commercial construction
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related equivalent field experience
- Experience in design/build and plan/spec delivery methods across diverse market sectors (e.g., commercial office, health care, hospitality, education, high-rise residential, bio-tech, government)
- Proven ability in critical thinking and problem-solving, exercising sound judgment in decision-making
- Skill in managing, training, and developing employees efficiently
- Proficiency in advanced estimating strategies and techniques
- Experience participating in project interviews, presentations, and detailed estimate reviews with clients as needed
- Mentorship and team leadership capabilities
- Ability to develop and implement metrics for department and sales teams
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
